Hi,
I’m the mother of the 5 kittens that were found during the week in Mountrath. I’m only about 8 months old myself and haven’t had a great life up till now.
Believe it or not, I was once a cute little kitten that everyone loved to cuddle, but — once the tom cats came round — I wasn’t wanted any more. Now look at me, I’m just a bag of bones and had to have one of my eyes removed as it got damaged by one of the tom cats. The lady in the LSPCA says I’m still beautiful.
I want to thank the lovely family who got help for me during the week. I hadn’t much strength left, all my energy went into looking after my kittens —which are a hungry lot. Without much food, it was a struggle.
I want to apologise to the man that I bit on Wednesday, I was in so much pain, I didn’t realise he was trying to help me. When you’ve been let down by so many humans you just don’t know who to trust.
At least my kittens will never have the lonely life I had. The lady in the LSPCA said they will all get loving homes when they are old enough and they will get me a special home too.
I also want to thank all the kind people who sent donations for me and my kittens, I never knew what kindness was until this week. And thank you too, to the staff in Vetcare who looked after me and the kittens so well. We are with a temporary fosterer for a few days and then into long term foster care next week, where we’ll stay until we are all ready for rehoming.
Please don’t let another cat suffer the way I did. Neuter your cat and if a stray comes into your garden, don’t wait till it has kittens, ring the LSPCA straight away and they will be only too happy to advise.
