The Laois Dog Pound is located in Tentore, Ballacolla, Co Laois and the dog warden is Tristan Blundell.
When a dog is submitted to the Laois Dog Pound, the pound wait for five days to allow the owner of the dog to reclaim him/her. After that time, they are microchipped, given their first vaccination and put up for rehoming by the pound. It is a legal requirement for stray dogs to spend five days in the pound before being rehomed, after the five days the owner cannot reclaim the dog. If they are not rehomed after a certain period of time, they are taken in by a rescue such as the Laois SPCA, Cara Rescue Dogs or Dogs Trust, who neuter and rehome them. The Laois SPCA also give vouchers to people who have taken a dog from the Laois Pound to cover half of the cost of neutering.
